Finding Happiness In The Weirdest Little Things

When I was growing up we didn't have many fast food places and eating out was a rare thing.  Our family ate at home almost all the time and prepared food was all but nonexistent.  When we had pizza, which we did regularly, it was homemade and very yummy!

And we always cut it with a knife.  There was no pizza cutter in our house and I hated that.  For some reason, in my mind pizza cutters were cool and the "in" way to cut pizza and because we didn't have one I guess I felt like we were "out."  Silly looking back but as a kid that's how I felt.

So when I moved out on my own, of course I equipped my kitchen with a brand new pizza cutter!  I was so proud of that thing....even hung it on a hook on the wall so it was in plain view.  I used it to cut pizza, pastry shells, pasta, cookie dough, and anything else I could think of.  You might say that I was giddy over that pizza cutter!

The point is that even small things can make us very happy.  In fact, sometimes it's the small things that give us more pleasure than the big things ever could.  And small things are easy to indulge in too.  I mean, that pizza cutter was only a couple bucks.  Very small price to pay for the years of pleasure it gave me.

So today when I find myself wanting some small thing I remember the pizza cutter and allow myself to indulge in that little pleasure.  It lifts my mood, helps me appreciate life and makes me really happy.  And I encourage you to do the same.

Rejoice in life's small pleasures ~ you'll be happy you did!
